Patent Research - How To Research Existing Patents To Make Sure You Have an Original Idea
July 19, 2008 | 3 Comments
If you have a great idea that you want to invent, you’ll want to know that your idea is original.
You first need to find out if there are already existing patents for your idea. If you have the funds you can hire a patent attorney to do a patent search for you.
Or if you have little or no funds you can do a patent search yourself online. There is a great website called freepatentsonline.com where you can register for free and do patent searches.
You will want to do a search with as many keywords that you can think of that relate to your product idea. For example if your product idea is for a new design for an ice chest, you’ll want to do searches for “ice chest” and words that relate like “cooler”, “ice box”, etc.
You can also do a patent search at the US Patent and Trademark website. If you click Patent on the left hand side, then scroll down and click Search, you will come to a page where you can choose how you want to do your search. The Quick Search option is quick and easy. Read more

How To Find The Best Jobs For Shy People
June 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Choosing the right work for your personality type is important when pursuing a job or determining what type of business you want to start.
Forget classifying yourself as an “Introvert” or an “Extrovert”. I believe everyone has both characteristics depending on the situation they are in. Shy people can be just as successful as outgoing people.
What’s more important than classifying yourself as “shy” is asking yourself this question….What activities do I do that make me feel the strongest?
Step 1 – Find some quiet time.
Step 2 - Close your eyes.
Step 3 - Envision your perfect world. What does it look like? What do you look like? What things are you doing to make yourself feel proud? Who are you hanging out with? What are other’s saying about you? How do you feel?
Step 4 - Write down the answers to these questions in a journal and you’ll start to get a sense of what your passions are. Read more
How To Find a Mentor
May 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Finding a mentor is one of the most important ingredients to becoming a young successful millionaire. The idea of trying to forge your way to millions without guidance is daunting. Every young entrepreneur should have a mentor to offer us advice and guidance. Mentors aren’t just people that you know personally. There are several areas where you can find a mentor.
1. Books – Many successful people have written books about their success and given us a blueprint for our own journey.
2. Your Personal Friends and Family – Look inside your circle of friends and family. Find someone who has done something that you wish to achieve. Is there someone who has become really successful that you look up to? Is there some that can offer you advice and guidance?
3. People in the Professional World – Think about your current and past bosses, your school teachers, your church leader, or anyone that you’ve met in your past.
4. The Government – If you have decided to go into business for yourself, the Government has a program that matches new entrepreneurs with experienced entrepreneurs in a Mentor Program called SCORE. (SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
